Privacy notice

Field & Herd is operated by Willis Innovations LLC. It helps farmers keep cattle records, photos, field notes and maps, including entries made offline.

Information we use

We store your account email, display name, farm memberships, permissions and the records and photos you add. Google sign-in provides a verified account identifier, email and profile name. We request basic identity information, not access to Gmail, contacts or Drive. Field & Herd passwords are stored as salted hashes, not readable passwords.

Essential cookies keep you signed in. Your browser stores farm records, photos and pending edits on your device so the app can work offline. Signing out does not erase all downloaded farm data from the device.

Maps and location

Google supplies online maps and address searches. Google receives map requests and the addresses you search for. If you choose Find my location, your browser asks for permission. Locations you save as farm items are stored with your farm. We do not continuously track your location. Drawn lines are farm notes, not official property surveys.

Who can access information

Your farm's authorized team can access its shared records. Administrators manage fields, tag owners and team permissions. Separate farms are kept separate. The operator may access information when needed to provide support, investigate problems and restore backups. Google Cloud hosts the service and private backups; Cloudflare handles website delivery and security. These providers process technical connection and service information, such as IP addresses, under their own policies.

Field & Herd does not sell your farm records or use Google account information for advertising.

Subscriptions and optional tips

Payments are handled on Stripe’s hosted pages. Field & Herd stores the identifiers and plan information needed to connect a subscription to the correct farm, track trial and complimentary access, confirm payment status, and administer promotional discounts and referral credits. Field & Herd does not collect your full card number in its farm-record forms. Payment processing has Stripe’s own privacy information and terms.

Feature-use counts

Field & Herd can count which areas of the app are used to help decide what to improve. These are first-party counts associated with your account and farm; they are not anonymous collection. They do not include the contents of your farm records or photographs. The developer sees aggregate usage through a restricted view. You can turn future feature counting off in Help & feedback → Help us improve the app → Share basic feature-use counts. Turning it off does not remove counts already recorded.

Retention and your choices

Active farm records remain stored until they are changed or removed through an agreed support process. Our approved backup plan keeps seven verified daily local copies and 30 verified daily cloud copies, with at least seven good cloud recovery points. Cleanup stops when verification fails. Cloud soft deletion can retain removed backup objects for seven more days. Historical pilot recovery copies remain preserved for support review. Removing an active record therefore does not immediately remove it from backups; contact support to clarify a deletion request and its recovery-copy treatment.

Use Farm setup → Export device backup to download the records and photos saved on that device. For access, correction or deletion requests, email [email protected]. We verify the request and clarify its scope before changing account access or shared farm records. You may need another administrator to retain responsibility for a shared farm. Never send passwords or invitation codes with a support request.

Sync and export pending entries before removing the app or clearing browser storage. Records that exist only on your device cannot be recovered from server backups.

Optional tips

If you choose to leave a tip, you open a Stripe-hosted payment page operated for Willis Innovations LLC. Stripe processes your payment and payment-related information under its privacy policy. Field & Herd does not collect your card details or send farm records to Stripe. Tips are one-time and optional; they do not change farm access or start a subscription. Payment records are managed in Stripe. Contact support for payment questions.

Photographed paper records

Pages you upload are shared with your farm’s team. We retain the uploaded image, its title/date/notes, who added it, and any reading suggestions. Device copies and unsent pages are saved locally for offline use. Choosing “Read handwriting” sends that page to Google Cloud Vertex AI to prepare suggestions. Handwriting can be misread: no cattle are added until you review and confirm an entry. The original page is preserved. Paper records are included in private farm backups and the same manual deletion process described above.
